Energy use in hotels: a case study in Gran Canaria

Abstract In this paper, the energy models of six hotels were compared. Food and beverage (F&B) service demands highest amount (over 50%), followed by hot water system. A regression analysis revealed that, among 31 different characteristics, revenue per available room, pool volume, number diners mean guests occupied room can explain total demand studied hotels. The possibility including photovoltaic solar could increase renewable contribution mix 8–30%, but highly depends on surface for installation in each hotel.
